The Work Continues!

Work continues at the house with new insulation and wallboard going up in the livingroom, framing being completed on newly installed windows, new light fixtures installed and, hopefully, a new porch soon off the livingroom. These are all pictures taken by my family as they have enjoyed staying at the house in July. Bob and I will be there soon. He will be impressed with the progress as he has not seen the house since last fall. We're anticipating doing a lot of painting. I'm also looking forward to drinks on the porch! I'm happy my family has been able to enjoy the house this summer.

With the window framed, we can complete the beadboard in the bathroom.

I love the new light but we might need to raise it a little for Bob!

No porch yet because of a delay with the permit. I do like the new lights!

Looking good! One of those chairs is calling my name. Can't wait to be here!

Mermaid

It's exciting to be far enough along to begin thinking about decorating not just construction. I found this hand carved mermaid from the Phillipines while getting my hair cut. It will be perfect in the house! I'll have to stow it in my luggage on our next trip coming up in a few weeks.

Parting Shots

My fabulous cow from Ed's Stuff on Route 1!

The daffodils met us again this spring.

The view from the house!

New chairs!

The porch is next!

Some History

Ronnie, our neighbor, is very connected to the house as his father grew up here and he remembers visiting his grandparents in the house. He has some great stories and found an old photo of the house dated obviously after the addition was made in the 1920's. I love stuff like this! I think his grandmother is one of the older girls in the picture. She grew up across the street.

Family Visits and Being Tourists!

Anna, Jaiden and Theo
We took some time out from working hard to relax and enjoy some of the points of interest in the area. Casey had not spent a lot of time in this part of Maine so was interested to see everything. My family joined us as usual including my sister who stayed with us for a few nights. We also had a great visit from my nieces and nephew who brought their children up for an afternoon visit. Thanks, Jeff, for bringing all the toys!

Can you tell they are related!

Love hanging out in old cemetaries. Some of these dates are from the 1600's.

We need one of these on our house!

Hanging the Signs!

Casey made the signs for the bedrooms in January for my birthday so I thought it was appropriate that she hang them in the house.

April 2011 Trip

Casey, my oldest daughter, made the trip with me in April to open the house for the season. Bob was unable to join us as his job is definitely ramping up for what I think will be his final project for JPL. Hopefully that means more time in Maine in the near future for him anyway! As you can see, the view from the living room is fabulous and even better than anticipated. Even with the walls still unfinished, Casey thinks this might be her favorite room in the entire house. We worked hard, did a lot of family bonding and had a lot of fun!

The finished bathroom!

Casey working hard!

The Lafayette Room ready for guests.

The hallway all painted and waiting for pictures and a mural!

Casey calling home while enjoying the view.

I bought a new rug for the small guest room overlooking the harbor. More painting to be done but coming along.
