Awakening!

The Daffodil Greeting
Spring in Maine always feels like an awakening! I am always energized for the new projects and fun we will have in this new season of the house. Friends and family are always a part of that and, with the house becoming a comfortable place to be, this year seems to destined for much laughter, game playing and visits!

Glass Insulators & Other Fun Stuff

I have always been attracted to glass insulators and have always had a few lying about the house from my purchases through out the years. I never really knew much about them, I just liked them. This fall, my nephew, Jeff, introduced me to one of his purple insulators and I have been hooked on collecting insulators ever since! I now belong to the National Insulator Association and am on ICON, Insulator Collectors On the Net. I know, my geakiness is showing! Here is my first purple insulator that I purchased in an antique store on our way to Augusta, Maine. I now have about 100 insulators!

This fall trip was not a trip for getting projects done as Bob had surgery for a knee replacement and I was lucky just to get him on the plane. We went to enjoy being in Maine with no agenda, maybe for the first time! We did a few trips. One to see the State Capitol in Augusta and another to visit a fort near the house that we had never been to. It did snow one evening and we turned off all the lights inside with only the porch lights on, and just watched silently and peacefully.

Summer 2012!

This summer's trip was planned around the Mars Science Lab, Curiosity, landing so we had to wait until all that was completed. It was worth it for such a successful project. That meant we were in Maine in late summer. We did a few projects but mostly connected with family and did more touring and sightseeing in the area. Even though I grew up in Maine, it was not in this area and there is much to discover, even for me. Bob and I always have a wonderful time being tourists!

I made these myself. Way too domestic!

The stairwell wall is completed except for some paint. Next trip!
